President Jim Parks invites you to attend the 68TH ANNUAL CONVENTION of the Texas Water Conservation Association scheduled for Wednesday, March 7 - Friday, March 9, 2012, at The Sheraton Dallas Hotel, Dallas, TX.

The format for the convention will be similar to previous conventions, with all attendees invited to participate in the NWRA luncheon, the reception and dinner on Thursday, and the Presidents’ breakfast on Friday morning.

State Representative Jim Keffer, Chair of the House Committee on Energy Resources, and a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, kicks off the water laws session on Wednesday afternoon with a discussion of activities in the Texas House.  The water laws session will also include presentations on ethics and groundwater management.  The water quality session that follows will include presentations on how the drought has affected surface water quality in Texas and on sea-water desalination.

TCEQ Executive Director Mark Vickery will speak on Thursday.  Thursday’s panel session will focus primarily on how the drought has affected water management, but will also include a presentation on changes to groundwater law.  State Representative Allan Ritter, Chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources, has been invited to attend the dinner on Thursday evening as an honored guest.

State Senator Craig Estes, Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, highlights Friday morning’s general session.  Friday’s program will also include presentations on climate, the Bastrop fire, and activities of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.


Types of registrations are:

TWCA Member Registration Fee  $400.00 each
(Includes NWRA Luncheon, Reception and Awards Dinner, Presidents Breakfast, convention material and admission to all sessions.)

NON-MEMBER Registration Fee $500.00 each
(Includes NWRA Luncheon, Reception and Awards Dinner, Presidents Breakfast, convention material and admission to all sessions.)

Extra NWRA Lunch Tickets  $  65.00 each

Extra Awards Dinner Tickets  $  75.00 each

Please complete the registration form and return it to the TWCA office no later than FRIDAY, February 24, 2012.  Please note that there will be a $75.00 administrative fee charged on all refund requests.  All refunds will be processed within thirty (30) days following the convention.  There will be no refunds for cancellations received after Friday, February 17, 2012.  Registration packets can be picked up on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please note that if you are unable to get a room at The Sheraton Dallas Hotel under the TWCA block of rooms you can email Lisa Henley at LHenley@twca.org and request to have your name put on a waiting list.  We will do everything possible to get you a room.

There is a 7-Day cancellation clause.  In the event a cancellation does occur less than 7 days prior to your scheduled arrival, the hotel is enforcing a charge of one night’s room rate and tax.  If you make a reservation with the Sheraton Dallas Hotel and will not need your reservation, please contact the TWCA office prior to canceling your reservation and we will make every attempt to reassign it to another member on our waiting list which will result in the cancellation penalty being waived.
